Description
Three boys… Three girls… Another cliché high school romance. And it all started once upon a dance…
(Did this description make you facepalm or groan or roll your eyes?)
Warning!
This may be considered inappropriate to some readers. So, to let you know, this post includes images of (hopefully mildly, I don’t know if my opinion is entirely accurate) mildly sexy outfits (for the evil girls), mild kissing, the song “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak is also featured in here, and a couple of confrontations with the villains.
Characters
Estrella Chara Hutchinson: Seventeen year-old female hedgehog with chocolate brown fur and ice-blue eyes with pale peach skin. She has one long, straight bang combed over to the left side of her face like a K-Pop star and five spines like Amy’s but thicker and down to her shoulder blades and curl up slightly at the tips. Her eyelashes are very long and curly.
Mary Edith Grace Hutchinson: Sixteen year-old female hedgehog with dark blonde fur and blue eyes with slightly freckled peach skin. Her bang is styled similar to Estrella’s but it’s shorter, thicker, and wavy, and it curls up slightly at the end. Her spines are also similar to Estrella’s but slightly shorter, thicker, wavier, and curl up more at the ends. Her eyelashes are very dark and thick. Also, Mary Edith is her whole first name, but her friends just call her “Mary”.
Georgie Amore Hutchinson: Fourteen year-old female hedgehog with light brown fur and gray-blue eyes with peach skin. She has very short spines like Amy’s and a short thick bang that curls over her forehead. Her eyelashes are thick and curly. Despite being the youngest sister, she’s taller than both of them with long legs and body.

Author’s Note
Sorry that this isn’t an X Reader or RP of any kind, but if you want, you can describe your OC’s in the comments and I’ll let them make cameos, or if I’m not being lazy, make them main characters in the story. Thank you so much if you are reading this! I hope you enjoy the story! (I do not own any of the characters or images in this story, except for my own.)

Chapter 1: The Dance
Estrella’s POV
It was a beautiful day in the late Summer/early Autumn. A week ago, Georgie’s friend Amy Rose invited us to a formal teenager dance party. The last few days had been stressful as we rushed around getting fitted for dresses, buying new shoes, going to the salon to get our hair and nails done, applying makeup. But now we were ready, and waiting for our ride to show up.
The only unfortunate thing about this night was the fact that we were carpooling with some of our friends’ (Amy, Sally, and Blaze) oldest enemies (Fiona, Breezie, Wave, and Rouge).
Their rivalry had started long ago, when each of these apparently evil girls had betrayed or harmed our friends in some way. Things weren’t so bad between us and Rouge as she usually helped us more than she hurt, but tensions were high between the others.
I stood in front of the mirror, admiring myself one more time.

I also looked over at Mary Edith’s outfit.

And Georgie’s.

I smiled. We were beautiful. So were our friends. I looked around the room.
Amy Rose.

Sally Acorn.

Blaze The Cat.

A car horn beeped outside as Rouge’s rented white limo pulled up in front of the house. We all rushed out into the cool night air. The door opened and I was one of the first to slip inside. I shivered, sliding over into the corner and buckling my seatbelt.
I looked around the car at my friends enemies. (Frenemies?)
Rouge The Bat (My friend, sort of.)

Fiona Fox

Breezie The Hedgehog

Wave The Swallow

They were impeccably beautiful. I looked down at myself doubtfully. Was I dressed up enough after all? I brushed aside my worry. I wasn’t going to let self-consciousness ruin my evening. One by one, my sibs and friends stepped into the car. Amy, Sally, and Blaze all sat on the the far side from Rouge, Fiona, Breezie and Wave.
“Hello girls, how’s the weather?” Breezie smirked.
“Freezing!” Georgie exclaimed. They snickered. We ignored them, though Georgie looked a little hurt and Amy was offended for her.
The car started and the whole drive was spent in silence. Some of us played with our phones, others examined our dresses and made a few final changes to our makeup, and some watched the TV at the front, which was playing some kind of romantic tragedy I didn’t care to see.
Finally, we pulled up in front of the building that had been rented for the party. I could see the colorful lights flashing and even faintly hear the beat of the music that was playing inside. Good. That meant it was super loud.
I rushed up the walkway and entered, stopping for a moment inside to let the vibrations of the music fill my chest. I sighed and made my way through the crowd until I found a clear spot for some solo dancing. I spun, clapped, bopped my shoulders, and moved my hips. A few kids got up and joined me, and we had some laughs. After the song ended, I made my way to the refreshment table, where Mary Edith was already waiting with Blaze.
“Thirsty?” Mary Edith asked, offering me a paper cup filled with my favourite cream soda.
“Yes, thank you.” I said breathlessly, taking it. I put the straw in my mouth and drank, watching the crowd mingle. I smiled as I saw a few familiar faces making their way over. Sonic The Hedgehog, Tails The Fox, Knuckles The Echidna, and Amy, Georgie, and Sally.
“Careful not to spill on your dress. It really is a pretty one.” Amy said. I smiled.
“Thank you. I promise I’m being careful.” I said, and put my hand over my mouth to cover a belch.
“GROSS!” Georgie giggled.
“I beg your pardon.” I said in a stuffy British accent and we all snickered. Another song started playing and Sonic looked at Mary Edith with a shy smile. I had time to observe a few things.
1: Sonic was going to ask Mary Edith to dance.
2: Amy was waiting for Sonic to ask Mary Edith to dance because she knew Mary Edith would say “No” and then she could jump in and say that she’d love to.
3: The frenemies and Scourge were coming toward us from one direction and would surely find some way to wreck our evening if I didn’t get us out of there.
4: Shadow, my ex-boyfriend, was coming toward us from the other direction and if he reached us, it would just be really awkward for me.
5: I had approximately ten seconds to get everyone out onto the dancefloor before catastrophe struck.
“Hey, Mary, wanna dance?” Sonic asked. Mary Edith opened her mouth to say “No”.
“She’d love to!” I cut in, pushing her toward Sonic. “Just be careful, she’s got two left feet!” I knew saying that would make Mary Edith determined to prove me wrong regardless of how she felt about public dancing. She sighed and took Sonic’s hand.
“Why not?” She asked, shooting me a glare over her shoulder as she walked away. I wouldn’t be surprised if I found a pile of ice cubes in my bed tonight.
Silver looked at Georgie shyly. “Do you… want to…?” He blushed. “I mean…”
“Sure!” Georgie giggled and blushed, taking his hand as they walked out onto the dancefloor.
Amy sighed. “I’ll just dance with Tails then! C’mon Tails!” She grabbed his hand and dragged him onto the dancefloor before he could say anything. He looked back at the chocolate chip cookies longingly, before turning back to Amy with a resigned expression.
Sally saw Shadow, looked at me, smiled, and then walked up to meet him. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but she pointed to the dancefloor and then grabbed his hands and pulled him onto it before he could refuse. She smiled at me over his shoulder and I smiled back, grateful.
“Oh, Knux! I saved a dance for you!” Rouge called, signaling that the frenemies had arrived. The bewildered echidna blushed redder than his fur as she took his hand and dragged him off.
“I… need to relieve myself.” Blaze said awkwardly, and left in the direction of the restrooms. I sighed in relief that all my friends were safe and turned to go. But then Fiona’s voice stopped me.
“Hi, Estrella. Cute dress. I might have to borrow that someday.” She said in her usual annoying smug way. I turned back to face her. She had one arm around her boyfriend, Scourge’s, neck, Breezie and Wave flanked them on either side. They looked like glittery, multi-coloured Stormtroopers. I smiled at the thought.
“Sorry, I don’t think it’s your colour.” I said in reply to her earlier comment. She smirked.
“What if it’s not your colour?” She challenged.
“Then I wouldn’t have worn it.” I said matter-of-factly. She smiled.
“You’ve gotten faster at your come-backs. Still need to work on that wit though.” She said. Scourge grinned.
“Hey, why don’t you ditch the fuzzy cuddle-buddies and hang out with us?” He asked.
“No thanks, I’ve got this thing about coming within six feet of any jerks.” I said, turning to go.
“Be careful what you say to us,” Scourge said, and I stopped but didn’t turn around. “You won’t always have Sonic and his friends around to protect you.”
I smirked at him over my shoulder. “Is that you trying to sound threatening? Needs work. And I don’t need Sonic to protect me from losers like you.” I turned and walked away before they could say anything else. Wow, that was kind of awesome! I thought, grinning.
“Hi, Estrella! Wanna come dance?” I heard Charmy The Bee call. I guess Vector couldn’t find him a babysitter and had no choice but to bring him to this supposed ‘teenager’ party. Not that I minded, as long as Vector was being a responsible guardian. I smiled at the little bee.
“Sure!” I said, walking over.
LATER
I exited the restroom and was heading back to my friends when my phone pinged. So I pulled it out of my pocket to check. It was a text from my mother, Laura, asking how everything was going. I told her it was going good and slipped my phone back into my pocket just as I bumped into someone’s back.
“I’m sorry!” I cried, stumbling back. “I wasn’t looking where I was going–.” I cut off when I saw who it was. “You.” I said flatly. Scourge grinned.
“Ouch! What’d I ever do to you?” He said.
“Oh, let’s see…” I said, tilting my head in thought. “There was that time on your first day at school when you tripped me and I had to go to the nurse’s office to get that huge cut on my forehead taken care of, or that time when you dumped pepper all over my lunch, or that time you egged and TP’d my house on Halloween, or that time you dumped a bucket of slime, or that time you put pepper spray in the vents of the school and blamed it on me, and the horrors have continued up to not too long ago, when you tried to threaten me.” Scourge laughed.
“Yeah, good times. But seriously, that was a long time ago. Like, fifteen minutes ago! Quit living in the past!” He said. I scoffed, rolling my eyes, but really I was trying not to laugh.
“Well, I have to get back to my friends now.” I said, as a slow song started playing.
“The fuzzy cuddle-buddies?” He asked.
“Yes, the fuzzy cuddle-buddies.” I replied, and Scourge chuckled.
“I have to go.” I said, trying to get around him. He moved to block me.
“Dance with me.” He said. I didn’t think he was serious, but then he grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the dancefloor. I wanted to say “No”, but there was something oddly compelling about the way he smiled at me and held my hands expectantly. I sighed, and put my hands on his shoulders as he put his on my hips, and we started to slow-dance.
I didn’t want to look into his eyes, so I just focused on the music and my movements. (The song playing is “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak and some of you may recognize the song from Jumanji: The Next Level.)
For some inexplicable reason, I looked up. Scourge was watching me through half-lidded eyes. He smiled and put his arm around my hips, dipping me so I could feel the tips of my spines brush against the floor. He pulled me back up and wrapped his arms around my waist. Without thinking, I wrapped mine around his neck. This is too close. I thought, but I didn’t really care.
Scourge stopped suddenly and I looked up at him, confused. He leaned his forehead against mine and whispered hoarsely, “Kiss me.” And pressed his lips against mine. I stiffened in shock, and heard someone in the crowd gasp. “SCOURGE IS KISSING ESTRELLA!” He or she screamed, and the whole party stopped. Guess even DJ Vector couldn’t handle the horrific sight.
I pushed on Scourge’s chest until he let go and I stumbled back a few steps. He took one step toward me and I held up my hand. “Stay away from me!” I snarled. I thought I saw a flash of hurt in his eyes before they wandered over my shoulder and he grinned evilly.
“S’up Blue?” He said. I turned to see Sonic and Mary Edith standing behind me.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve.” Sonic said, pointing accusingly.
“What is going on here?” Sally asked, coming over to me.
“I saw it! Scourge assaulted Estrella!” Amy said, coming to my other side.
“It was just a kiss.” Scourge said. By now, everyone was looking at us, and I was blushing uncontrollably.
“I never gave you permission to kiss me.” I said in a low voice. I was angry and embarrassed.
“I have never asked permission for anything in my life and I’m not about to start.” Scourge said matter-of-factly. I felt Mary Edith take me by the hand and lead me away from him before things got violent.
“Are you okay?” She asked, concerned. I nodded. Mary was the only one who knew my secret.
I had a crush on Scourge.
